Virunga National Park is UNESCO World heritage site because of its amazing biodiversity. It is home to mountain gorillas, lions and the elusive okapi among many other wildlife species. The key activities in Virunga National Park are gorilla trekking and hiking the great Nyiragongo Volcano. The Nyiragongo Volcano has the largest lava lake in the world that is open to tourism. The last eruption in 2002 forced over 350,000 people to flee the surrounding areas. Lava flowed at such high speed that within minutes it had reached the showers of Lake Kivu leaving 170 dead. The volcano has been stable and safe for tourists for over two decades now and thousands visit the park to get an opportunity of observing the lava lake. The Volcanoes National Park on the other hand is the most visited tourism destination in Rwanda. It sits on high altitude and is blessed with 5 different volcanoes. It was the famous primatologist known as Dian Fossey who made the park famous when she established a gorilla research Centre there. The park is home to 35 percent of the remaining population of mountain gorillas and is a more expensive but convenient place to track the primates. Apart from gorillas, the park is home to hyenas, forest elephants and golden monkeys. The main activities at the volcanoes national park are gorilla trekking, visiting the tomb of Dian Fossey, golden monkey tracking, hiking one of the mountains, visiting the Gorilla Guardians Village and exploring the Musanze caves. Climbing Mount Nyiragongo and tracking gorillas will test your overall stamina. You need to be in good physical condition and mental preparedness. If you are interested in only Nyiragongo, then you should check out our 2 days Mount Nyiragongo Hiking Package. 5 Days Wildlife Bliss at Kidepo National Park

Kidepo Valley National Park – The 1442 Square Kilometers conservation area is located in Karamoja region of the north eastern Uganda and borders the Southern Sudan in the north and Kenya in the east. Enjoy the isolated wilderness dominated by the 2750m Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers. Apart from holding a diversity of wildlife, this is the only park in Uganda where you can see both Zebras and Giraffes in the same conservation area and also the only one that still has Cheetahs. The name “Kidepo” was derived from the word “Kidep” which in English means “pick”, so the local communities used to go and pick the fruits of the Borassusaethiopum (palm tree) during food crisis due to unpredicted drought. The Park therefore took its name from that activity and was then modernized by adding the letter “O” to become “Kidepo”. On top of this, you will love the culture and beautiful scenery as you traverse through the country side!

8 days Exceptional Uganda Luxury Safari

8 days Exceptional Uganda safari to Bwindi ‘the impenetrable forest’ home to one of the richest ecosystems in Africa. Mountain Gorillas are one of the world’s most endangered apes. It is estimated that there are only about 880 left throughout the world. Almost half of them can be found in Uganda, and populations can also be found in neighboring Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Kidepo Valley is possibly the only national park left in the whole continent where you can have the park all to yourself. This park teems with wildlife and must have been like safaris were in Kenya 35 years ago before the arrival of mass tourism! In fact, you are unlikely to meet more than a couple different cars on any given day of game driving. Kidepo is also home to almost all of the animal species present in the Uganda National Parks system, including lion, giraffe, elephant, buffalo, leopard, ostrich and cheetah. Kidepo is definitely the best kept secret in Uganda. Kidepo Valley N.P. was rated 3rd best National Park in Africa by CNN.
