On this FULL DAY TOUR TO BUGANDA SITES region tour, you will visit cultural sites such as the Mengo Palace, Amin’s torture chamber, King’s manmade Lake, the only handmade lake in Africa, Buganda Parliament and the Royal mile. The highlight of this tour will be the experiential tour which comprises of preparing Kiganda food right from the garden to eating, Bark cloth marking (Demonstration) and Banana juice making (Omubisi) while being entertained by the Kiganda dancers.

Lubiri Palace visit

At 0800hrs, arrival at the gates of Lubiri, meet and greet with your guide for briefing. At 0810hrs, our tour will start from the Palace where you will get to know about the history and background of palace and how it came into existence; get to know about the ldd Amin’s canon, the remains of Muteesa 11 posh cars, Torture chamber and Kabaka’s pictorial gallery.

Food Experience

After the tour, at 0900hrs we head to the garden where our experiential activities will start from and this involves food preparation process. In the process, we shall identify and harvest a mature banana and be guided on how to harvest it. This is the staple food for Baganda people. This is where we shall get to know the different types/ species of bananas, cultural attachments, and different ways of preparing it up to the eating stage.

From the garden, we shall take our food to the preparation site where the rest of the food preparation will take place. Here, we shall fully engage ourselves in all the steps taken while preparing the Baganda food right from the garden up to the fire stove. Matooke is accompanied by sauce/stew and in this case, we shall accompany it with Chicken Luwombo / Beef or ground nuts. It is a stew steamed in banana leaves which is considered to be a very special dish that is served only to special guests in the Ganda culture. We shall set the fire place and leave our food on the fire while we proceed with our tour to other sites.

Buganda Parliament Visit

At 1100hrs, we shall proceed to Bulange the administrative headquarters of the Buganda Kingdom. It houses the Lukiiko (Parliament) and offices of the Kingdom of Buganda. This place holds a rich history that anyone shouldn’t miss out while on a tour to Buganda sites.

Fort Lugard Tour

At 1200hrs, we head to Fort Lugard, the first historical pictorial Museum of the country.  At this place, you will get to know more about Captain F. Lugard, why he was sent to Uganda, his purpose and contribution to Buganda Kingdom and Uganda at large. This tour takes around 30-45mins.

Kabaka’s Lake Tour

At 1300hrs, we transfer to Kabaka’s located in the outskirts of Kampala, 5km away from the city center. The kabaka’s lake is the largest man-made lake in Uganda and it is Africa’s excavated and largest surviving lake. This tour will take us about 30mins and setoff back to Lubiri.

Lunch and Entertainments

By 1400hrs, prepare ourselves for lunch and it’s during this time that you will be entertained by the local dancers with their Kiganda dance. This is an interesting moment and open to anyone who wish to participate in dancing or drumming. There will also be a demonstration of backcloth and Banana juice making.
